Toy Project - Lots ‘O Knots
For Medium Parrots - This is very versatile. Use as a talon toy or hang it!
Materials needed
- 2 Three foot pieces of ¼” Natural Cotton Rope
- 4 Stainless Steel Washers
- 12 Round Beads with a ¼” hole
Tools Needed
Instructions
Begin by knotting the two pieces of rope together into one knot. Leave 3” off the end of the knot, to be able to add the beads on later. Tie the knot very tightly.
Thread both strands of cotton rope through one stainless steel washer. Ensure washer is securely next to the first knot. Tie a second knot next to the stainless steel washer. Ensure knots are extremely tight. Continue this for five knots.
Toy Tip: The tighter the knot, the better the toy will be for your feathered friend to play with and attempt to release the washers from captivity!
Remove tape off the ends of rope and unravel the 3-ply rope. You will have a total of 12 ends to feed round acrylic beads onto. Place round acrylic beads onto each individual strand. Ensure each bead is securely in place and knots are very tight.
Note: Knots need to be tight so your feathered companion will not get caught in the rope.
Toy Tip: Toy converts easily to a hanging toy; tie a very small loop at the end in place of a bead, so you may add a stainless steel quick link to hang it on your pet bird’s play gym. Please ensure the loop is small so your avian companion cannot get his head caught in the loop.
